GOP Email Sheds Light on Acosta Allegations

acosta2

As we covered yesterday, 38th Assembly District candidate and Santa Clarita Councilmember Dante Acosta has been accused of sexual harassment by a Republican campaign staffer.  What follows is a brief email exchange between Acosta’s accuser and then-staffer for the late State Senator Sharon Runner, Vanessa Wilk. These emails also cc’d Assemblyman Scott Wilk and Congressman Steve Knight.

This email came in the days prior to the June primary election, in which Acosta (R-Santa Clarita) would end up finishing 2nd and advancing onto the general election against Christy Smith (D-Santa Clarita). All parties to these emails have been contacted for comment, and all have either declined or have not responded. Portions of these emails have been redacted.

  1. Very incriminating article. However, I can’t believe it until I see proof. Do you know how easy it is to fabricate an email, make a PDF, even make text message screen shots in Photoshop?

With all the tactics of the Democratic party lately, I would put nothing past them. Have you all seen the latest videos from “Project Veritas Action” like this one: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hDc8PVCvfKs

This is the kind of people in politics. Most Dems I know would excuse this behavior as “anything to win”, which I despise.

  2. The Acosta v Smith race is over. He’s toast. What are the ramifications for Knight and the Wilks? They clearly knew this was going on and yet covered it up by saying Acosta was leaving his job as Knight’s Field Rep “to focus on his campaign” That’s still to be seen. But shame on them.

I feel terrible for the woman who suffered through this treatment, as well as any others who may have as well. I also feel awful for the Acosta family. They didn’t sign up for this …

  3. Women must stand up against this inappropriate behavior and vote for Christy Smith in AD38. They also need to stand against Steve Knight who also had no regard for women as he knew about this particular situation. Vote for Bryan Caforio and tell Knight/Acosta that it matters how you treat women!
